EXCESS
After the movie Ben Hur came out, in the '60s, Sears & Roebuck sold a Ben Hur Playset in the Christmas catalogue. I got one for Christmas. I became obsessed with the set, painting blood with fingernail polish on the gladiators and melting little holes in them with a red hot icepick so that a little toothpick spear could be inserted into the 'wound'. The set included: Ben Hur four chariots catapult a bunch of gladiators several slaves roman audience trumpeters water-jar-bearing girls horses to pull the chariots one quarter of a coliseum slave market fruit stand Three of my friends also had Ben Hur sets. I pestered and begged them all to trade their sets to me for practically all my other toys.
