As a kid I liked comics and drew simple comics with friends. I liked Turok Son of Stone and Dick Tracy and Popeye and Little Lulu and lots of comics. They seemed magical to me. I couldn't imagine how the cartoonists were able to draw so well. The way comics got printed was a big mystery, too. The Underground comics of the '60s got me excited about drawing comics of my own. At first I drew purely stream of consciousness comics and soon a little universe of my own evolved and I still draw from it. Jimbo was invented in 1974 at college and published first in SLASH, an L.A punk music tabloid. Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly noticed my work in SLASH and invited me do a comic for their oversized cartoon magazine, RAW. In the '90s Matt Groening's ZONGO published Jimbo comic books. I continue to draw Jimbo and many other comic projects including DAL TOKYO which is drawn monthly for Riddim, a Japanese reggae magazine.
